Dear Hairdressers,
Welcome to the Pony email community! Every month I’ll be sharing what’s inspiring me (Corinna), plus trends, tips, and tricks from the whole Pony team. I truly appreciate you being here and hope you’ll stay tuned to the end for some sweet giveaways each month.
DECEMBER TRENDS UPDATE
What we are seeing a lot of:
Styling: The no fuss client who wants a wash and go vs clients coming in for the full on styling extravaganza.
Cuts: Classic, heavy blunt cuts of varied lengths like bobs, long layers and short layers. Think 70s meets 90s.
What we are loving:
The French girl bang! This is a classic bang that will never go out of style because it’s timeless. When your clients come in with grown out bangs this is a nice option to suggest.
See Corinna’s Lookbook below for plenty of inspiration from French bang goddess Francoise Hardy.

What we would like to see less of:
We are officially not fans of the forced beach wave. You know what we mean, it looks dry and dull and waves look like everyone else’s.
Remember good hair starts with a good haircut.
So begin there and then a better option is the unforced wave that looks completely natural but can take 40 mins to achieve. Shiny, healthy looking, unique and custom fit to each client! We have some classes on this technique on the app and more to come this calendar year!
December Trend Highlight: Hardy Bangs
This month, let’s look at the iconic bangs of Francoise Hardy, a French musician and actress who embodied effortless style and classic beauty. Based on suitability this style can work for most hair types and ages. I love that photos of her from youth to maturity show the evolution of her style throughout her career.
For clients with wavy or textured hair, you can see some more modern variations of the Francoise Hardy bang that totally rock on Zendaya and Zoe Kravitz.

How To Cut These Bangs:
Step One: Comb hair at natural fall and tap it at the roots to see where the hair naturally opens.
Step Two: From that opening, take a small triangle in between eyebrows or off-center and cut with tension over directing from left side to center and cut short to long and repeat on the other side taking a little at a time til you run out of hair in the bang section.
Step Three: Shake them out and make adjustments according to cow licks for balance and proportion.

Pro Tip: Remember that with trends, trying something unique and fresh depends on what your client comes in with prior and their desire to change it up. At Pony, we always take suitability, balance and proportion into mind. We've seen bangs that don’t work, and then we've seen bangs that are forever and usually it's because the bangs are custom fit and suitable for each client.
